Mischa Cheung

Mischa Cheung comes from a musical Swiss-Chinese family and lives in Zurich. He studied with Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov at the Zurich University of the Arts and has taken up a busy career bringing him to many concert stages and festivals throughout the world. Besides being a member of the Gershwin Piano Quartet, Mischa Cheung plays solo and chamber music recitals and regularly performs as a soloist at the Symphonic Game Music Concerts directed by the Merregnon Studios. This concert series has e.g. taken him to tour Japan with the London Symphony Orchestra and he has also appeared with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He has worked together with the reknowned choreographer Alexandra Bachzetsis composing and playing the music of transdisciplinary works commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.
In 2019 his recording of the piano concerto by Friedrich Gulda was released by Solo Musica receiving much critical acclaim. He was a member of the ECHO-award winning ensemble Spark from 2011 until 2015 and took part in extensive concert tours and numerous radio, tv and cd productions including recordings for Deutsche Grammophon and Berlin Classics. Mischa Cheung teaches at the Zurich University of the Arts and after being assistant to the masterclass of Prof. Scherbakov for many years he has recently been appointed a lecturer for piano and improvisation.
